Guidance You Can Trust.
Coverage Built Around You.

The Roland L. Geyer Agency was founded by Roland and Dorothy Mae Geyer in 1958 to provide sales and service of Federal Crop Insurance to the farmers of Sac County. We are honored to be the only agency in Iowa specializing in crop insurance owned by the same family for nearly 70 years.

As production agriculture has changed with advancements in technology, genetics, and precision, so has crop insurance. The agents at The Roland L. Geyer Agency remain dedicated to maintaining their knowledge of the policies, programs, and opportunities for their customers.

Crop insurance functions as part of an overall risk management plan for farmers. Understanding and specializing in the complexity of the policies and the coverages available gives customers of The Geyer Agency an advantage. Our mission is to help you succeed.

Insurance Solutions Fitting Your Farm Business's Needs

The Roland L. Geyer Agency focuses solely on the complexity of crop insurance products. Our commitment to working only with these products allows us to serve our clients better.

Our staff is able to invest our time in continuing education on only crop insurance. We offer the following products from the nation’s leading insurance providers. You can be confident we know the products and our customers, so we pair you with the appropriate coverage for your farm business.

Buying a crop insurance policy is one risk management option. Producers should always carefully consider how a policy will work in conjunction with their other risk management strategies to insure the best possible outcome each crop year. Crop insurance agents and other agri-business specialists can assist farmers in developing a good management plan.

HARVEST PRICES

• Corn - $4.75 • Soybeans - $12.63

Revenue Protection (RP)

Revenue Protection policies insure producers against yield losses due to natural causes and revenue loss caused by a change in the harvest price from the projected price using your individual production history. You select the amount of average yield you wish to insure from 50% to 85%. RP is subsidized from 41% to 64%, depending on your coverage level. The projected and harvest prices are based on daily settlement prices for certain futures contracts.

Yield Protection (YP)

Yield Protection policies insure producers against a loss in yield compared to their individual production history, with a projected price used to determine insurance coverage. You select a coverage level from a range of 50% to 85%. YP is subsidized from 41% to 64% depending on your coverage level. The projected price is based on daily settlement prices for certain future contracts.

Area Risk Protection Insurance (ARPI)

Insurance coverage is based on an area, NOT an individual yield or revenue amount. There are three plans of insurance available under ARPI: Area Revenue Protection, Area Revenue Protection with the Harvest Price Exclusion, and Area Yield Protection. Subsidy amounts range from 44% to 59% depending on coverage level. Losses are paid in the summer following the crop year, NOT at harvest time.

SCO

Supplemental Coverage Option is an area-based endorsement that covers a portion of your underlying federal crop insurance deductible up to 90%, triggering payouts based on county revenue or yield drops. With the federal government subsidizing 80% of the premium cost, SCO offers an affordable, highly subsidized way to maximize your safety net this season. Since SCO is area-based, payments may not reflect your individual farm experience. Losses are paid in the summer following the crop year, NOT at harvest time.

ECO

Like SCO, Enhanced Coverage Option is an area-based endorsement that triggers payouts based on county-level yield or revenue drops. However, ECO allows you to cover your deductible between 90% and 95% of expected county revenue. Highly subsidized at 80%, ECO can be added on top of your SCO and underlying policies for maximum peace of mind. Since ECO is area-based, payments may not reflect your individual farm experience. Losses are paid in the summer following the crop year, NOT at harvest time.

PRF

Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage insurance protects your pasture, rangeland, or forage for haying or grazing purposes against a lack of precipitation. PRF is a federally subsidized program that triggers payouts based on below-average rainfall in your local 12-by-12-mile grid, rather than individual farm losses. Covering 70% to 90% of historical precipitation, it provides an automatic, hassle-free safety net for grazing and haying land when critical moisture is missing. Since PRF is area-based, payments may not reflect your individual farm experience.  Sales closing for PRF is December 1 annually.

MCO

Margin Coverage Option coverage protects your profitability from both sides. This area-based endorsement protects your farm's operating margin against falling crop prices, area yield losses, and rising input costs (like fertilizer and fuel). MCO attaches to your underlying policy to cover a high-level band from 90% to 95% of expected crop value, providing critical security against tight profit margins. MCO is subsidized at 80%. Since MCO is area-based, payments may not reflect your individual farm experience. Losses are paid in the summer following the crop year, NOT at harvest time. Sales closing date for MCO is September 30 of the year prior to planting.

MP

Margin Protection crop insurance protects your operational profitability from every angle. This innovative, area-based plan safeguards your bottom line against falling commodity prices, county-level yield drops, and surging input costs (like fertilizer and fuel). Offering high-level coverage from 70% up to 95%, MP will be paired with your underlying multi-peril coverage for maximum financial security. Subsidy amounts range from 44% to 59%, depending on coverage level selected. Since MP is area-based, payments may not reflect your individual farm experience. Losses are paid in the summer following the crop year, NOT at harvest time. Sales closing date for MP is September 30 of the year prior to planting.
